Concordia Community Support Services and Washington Health System announce a Partnership Agreement to provide hospice care in Washington and Greene Counties

Today Concordia Lutheran Ministries announced a partnership between Concordia Community Support Services (CCSS) and Washington Health System (WHS) to create Concordia Hospice of Washington. The new company assimilates the current Washington Health System Hospice Care and will enable residents of Washington and Greene Counties to receive quality end-of-life care in their homes as well as inpatient and respite care at the Donnell House in Washington, PA.

Concordia Community Support Services is the home and community services management company which oversees the operations of Concordia Visiting Nurses, Concordia Private Care, Good Samaritan Hospice and VNA Alliance.

“We are very excited about the introduction of Concordia Hospice of Washington,” said Martin Trettel, President of Concordia Community Support Services. “The partnership’s main focus is to provide quality hospice care to those who have a serious illness. Concordia Hospice of Washington will provide physical, emotional and spiritual end-of-life hospice care and support to those in their own homes or in our inpatient unit at the Donnell House in Washington, PA.”

Three board members from Washington Health System will serve on the Concordia Hospice of Washington Board of Directors. They are Gary Weinstein, President and Chief Executive Officer, Brook Ward, Executive Vice President/Chief Operating Officer, and Regina Davin, Associate Nurse Executive. In addition to Trettel and Frndak, other board members include Karen McCreary, Chief Operating Officer, CCSS, Misty Ingram, Compliance and Ethics Manager, CCSS, Tammy Young, Chief Financial Officer, CCSS and Jamie Burke, Director of Operations, Good Samaritan Hospice, a mission of Concordia Lutheran Ministries.

“Washington Health System is pleased to partner with a large regional provider of hospice and other post-acute services,” said Weinstein. “This will enhance the hospice services provided by WHS in homes throughout our service area as well as at the Donnell House in Washington.”

“This new partnership will serve many in Washington and Greene Counties with the benefits of quality hospice end-of-life care,” said Keith E. Frndak, CEO and President of Concordia Lutheran Ministries. “Our focus at Concordia Hospice of Washington is to provide services that offer comfort, peace, and dignity for our patients with incurable illnesses, and for their families. Washington Health System is a quality regional provider and Concordia is pleased to be a partner in providing care through Concordia Hospice of Washington.”

In September of 2015, Concordia Visiting Nurses partnered with Washington Health System, Butler Health System in Butler County, Heritage Valley Health System in Beaver County and St. Clair Hospital in the South Hills of Pittsburgh to provide patients in the hospital a seamless transition from the hospital back into their home.
