VP holds certification since 1990!

Washington Health System’s VP and Chief Development Officer holds certification for fund development since 1990.

July 2017 – Washington, PA.

There are only approx. 5,500 professionals around the world who hold the CFRE designation. One of those professionals is Rich Mahoney, Vice President and Chief Development Officer for Washington Health System Foundation.

CFRE stands for Certified Fund Raising Executive and CFRE International is an independent organization that is dedicated to setting standards in philanthropic practice. Individuals granted the CFRE credential have met a series of standards set by CFRE International which include tenure in the profession, education, demonstrated fundraising achievement and a commitment to service to not-for-profit organizations. They have also passed a rigorous written examination testing the knowledge, skills and abilities required of a fundraising executive and have agreed to uphold Accountability Standards and the Donor Bill of Rights.

“The CFRE credential was created to identify for the public and employers those individuals who possess the knowledge, skills and commitment to perform fundraising duties in an effective and ethical manner,” states Jim Caldarola, CFRE, Past Chair of CFRE International. “As the certification is a voluntary achievement, the CFRE credential demonstrates a high level of commitment on the part of Mr. Mahoney himself, the fundraising profession and the donors who are served.”

CFRE recipients are awarded the certification for a three-year period and Mr. Mahoney has continuously held the certification since 1990. In order to maintain certification status, certificants must demonstrate on-going fundraising employment and fundraising results and continue with their professional education.

“I am very pleased to receive my CFRE recertification for another three years. It reflects my continued commitment and dedication not only to my fundraising profession but also to WHS,” Mr. Mahoney stated. “Donors and community members can be confident that the CFRE certification brings with it a high level of professional competency and ethics. It’s also a testament to the fundraising success we’ve been able to achieve though the Washington Health System Foundation. The WHS Foundation’s efforts enable WHS to continue to provide healthcare of the highest quality to the residents of our community,“ explained Mr. Mahoney.

Employers and donors who work with CFRE’s know they are getting a professional who is committed to the best outcomes for their organization and has the requisite knowledge and skills.
